Rick Metz & Metz Functional Art:

Rick Metz is a native to Cincinnati, Ohio. Building and designing has always been a passion for Rick.

In 2003, the Guitar Chair concept was created from a visualization during a discussion on music with his son Eric. Within a week, Rick had designed and created the first chair. Since the beginning of the Guitar Chair, Rick's clientele has grown to include: European and American music producers, musicians, recording studios and guitar collectors. His Guitar Chairs have been sold to buyers from many countries including Australia, France, Canada and the U.K..

Rick's custom-made Pick Table has been featured on the DIY Network’s Man Caves television show.  An Original Guitar Chair was commissioned for the set of an HBO original TV series, Hello Ladies.  Rick has also been seen on local news programs, featured in local newspapers and was headlined on the front page of the Russian Post newspaper. He was commissioned by Oliver Leiber of L.A. Productions to make a chair to be given as a wedding gift to guitar legend Jeff Beck. On special request, Rick made a rendition of a Punisher Bass played by Gene Simmons of KISS. After seeing this chair Gene Simmons personally put a photo of it on his website along with positive comments about the chair.  Rick has also sold chairs to executive management from the Hard Rock Café, an Opryland Hotel and the Rainforest restaurants.

Being in the musician's world as a drummer since the age of 10, and in the art world most of his life, Rick has blended both interests well into this most fascinating piece of furniture art. He considers it an honor to build and design the Guitar Chair to celebrate one of the most incredible instruments ever invented.
